Earlier this month, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that the U.S. had reached the congressionally mandated H-1B visa cap for the 2017 fiscal year. The H-1B visa program allows U.S. employers to hire international workers, on a temporary basis, in jobs that require specialized skill sets often in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math). Many of us watched the Pennsylvania primary election a few weeks ago with interest. There was plenty to talk about as Pennsylvania once again played an important role leading up to this summer’s conventions. We also had the opportunity to showcase our unique public-private collaboration, innovation in all sectors, and the robust city-county partnership between Mayor Bill Peduto and County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

A presidential primary also gives us some interesting insight into how our region is perceived by the candidates themselves, one of whom will eventually reside in the White House. Read Full Article
